BLACK BOX
Through an HTC Vive Pro equipped with a Leap Motion controller, viewers enter liminal space; the limbo between the physical world and the digital world.
Process & Development
This was the first major working test of the REALITY ROOMS concept. I used a FARO Focus 3D LiDAR scanner to map my college dorm room interior to sub-millimeter accuracy.
I then superimposed and aligned the 1-1 virtual recreation of my room with the physical space. Finally, I introduced virtual “liminal” objects to interact with using hand tracking from the Leap Motion controller using the Orion SDK.
SPACE P11
High-resolution LiDAR scans of the Chicago Pedway and Space P11 Gallery took Reality Rooms to the public. This second edition was developed for the Meta Quest, and was one of the first public installation uses of Quest Hand Tracking for a completely wireless experience.
